Global Champions League

Expanding a premium global sporting property through team ownership and investment.

Commissioned by Global Champions founders, I designed and produced a limited edition series of fifty luxury video books to support the launch of the Global Champions League. Combining premium materials, world-class photography and embedded film content, the books were created for prospective team owners, investors and strategic partners.

Following the success of the original project, I was commissioned a second time during lockdown to produce a further series of fifty books, supporting the continued growth of the franchise concept.

Challenge

Following the success of the Global Champions Tour, Olympic gold medallist Jan Tops and American entrepreneur Frank H. McCourt Jr. set out to launch the Global Champions League, an ambitious team-based competition designed to expand the commercial reach of international show jumping. The challenge was communicating a complex investment opportunity to prospective team owners, investors and strategic partners.

Solution

I was commissioned to design and produce fifty luxury video books. Combining world-class photography, embedded film content and a compelling narrative, the books presented the opportunity with clarity, confidence and impact. Every detail was considered, from premium leathers and materials through to content sequencing and investor communications. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I was commissioned a second time to create a further series of fifty books, supporting the continued growth of the franchise concept.

Result

The Global Champions League launched successfully in 2016, introducing a new team-based format to international show jumping and attracting investors, sponsors and commercial partners.

Impact

Known as the Formula One of show jumping, the series featured 15 events, 15 teams and 60 elite riders, including Olympic champions, world champions and European gold medallists. Broadcast to 130 million homes across 59 countries, it helped expand the global reach, profile and commercial appeal of the sport.
